For more complex things, I suggest getting a hold of techstream or another professional scan tool. techstream) can suggest specific values that are useful for regular owners to monitor in order to care for their engine, I'll see what I can do. However if someone more knowledgeable than me who is familiar with these tools (e.g. I'm not a mechanic, and I'm not really sure which values are useful anyway. I'm not interested in spending too much time trying to suck all the details out of these tools. Its a fairly straightforward process, particularly if the packets of interest adhere to the regular OBD2 standard as these do (albeit with a custom 'mode' and PID). Previously we had the same problem and a mechanic fixed it with an OBD-II dongle and some expensive software. ![]() I have a friend who has access to some workshop scan tools (not sure exactly which tool it was, not a toyota specific one), and equipment to inspect the CAN bus traffic.
